We’re in the final stages of preparation for the Travel Photographer of the Year exhibition at the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG) in London, which opens later this month. It will feature the winning images from the 2011 awards (including Malgorzata Pioro’s ‘dancing man at Tate Modern’ shown here), plus a series of special showcases and some wonderful historic images from the RGS-IBG archives. The exhibition runs from June 22nd to August 19th and is open every day, including weekends. It’s free to view, and you don’t need to book tickets – just turn up and enjoy!
The Society is in a great location, just along the road from the Natural History Museum, Victoria & Albert Museum, Science Museum and Royal Albert Hall, so if you’re in London this summer, why not pay us a visit?
You’ll be able to enjoy a fabulous selection of contemporary and historic travel images, and can be one of the first to buy a copy of our latest book, ‘Journey Four’. You can also take a look at the new TPOTY Collection, which features a selection of images from TPOTY over the years, in a range of cards and prints – and some very special framed limited edition prints. And all exhibition visitors will have the chance to win an incredible trip from TPOTY sponsors Explore!
WIN! A judges’ guided tour of the exhibition
On Thursday, June 21st, TPOTY judges will be giving private guided tours of the exhibition to small groups, before the exhibition opens to the public the following day. We’re giving away a number of places on the 1pm and 7pm tours to some lucky blog readers. As well as coming on a guided tour, they’ll also receive a free copy of the exhibition souvenir guide, plus a postcard of their choice from the new TPOTY Collection.
For your chance to join us on the 21st, please email ask@tpoty.com before June 17th and tell us why you’d like to do an exhibition tour and which time slot would suit you best (or perhaps you’d like to apply for a place as a treat for a friend). Winners will be notified on June 18th. Please make sure that you’d be able to join us on the 21st before entering!
