Travel Photographer of the Year is the world’s most prestigious international travel photography contest.

Every year amateur and professional photographers from around the world (almost 80 countries in 2010!) take part, challenging themselves to meet category briefs and to edit their work into award-winning portfolios.

The reward for the winners is fantastic – great prizes plus international exposure for their work, through the TPOTY exhibitions at the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG) in London, global media coverage of the TPOTY results, and in the TPOTY ‘Journey’ series of books.

TPOTY is open to anyone, regardless of age, photographic experience, or where they live in the world. Whether you’re a kid with a camera, a hugely experienced amateur, or make your living as a photographer, there will be a TPOTY category for you.

The awards are judged by people who live and breathe photography and who are at the forefront of their field, so if you enter TPOTY your images are seen by leading magazine editors, renowned photographers, image buyers and technical experts.

The 2011 awards are now open for entry and close on October 9th. Images can be uploaded online or submitted as prints.

TPOTY 2011 is supported by our very generous sponsors, without whom the awards could not be run, and we would like to thank:

Why not take the TPOTY journey this year?
